Giving families peace of mind
by providing a personalised early warning system

Our technology explained
  • We use our groundbreaking technology to listen just for coughs and ignore all other background noise
  • Our device analyses a wearer's cough frequency and duration with proprietary algorithms
  • It then posts data packets to the server when a trigger (cough frequency change) is reached
  • The server sends a text message to the patient or their caregiver if there are deviations from their pre-set baseline cough count.
  • The server also keeps data for longitudinal reporting over time and for additional analysis to discover emerging trends
  • With permission the data can be shared with carers clinicians to support decision making
  • A mobile and web app enable caregivers to view data and update information (such as people receiving text alerts)

Why early intervention is critical

Studies show that for people with varying respiratory conditions, a cough can happen well before there are any breathing problems and can occur straight after exposure to a known trigger, such as exercise or pollen, or at the onset of a cold. Sonasure captures and analyses cough frequency and duration, a proven leading indicator that accurately detects early signs of respiratory compromise.

We want to help sufferers with COPD, asthma and the elderly with respiratory risks. Of these populations, the poorly controlled or uncontrolled account for >14%, 18% and 10.5% respectively. Further, these patients are responsible for approximately 50% of hospitalisations of which 75% admittances are considered avoidable. These avoidable expenses in exceed £56+ billion annually.
